Festival of the Falls!

Festival of the Falls

Friday, October 17
Saturday, October 18

Celebrate the Harvest along with the falling leaves and the beautiful waterfalls at Cascades Park. Bloomington’s first Festival of the Falls will include activities for all ages on both Friday and Saturday. Try out the new amazing NEOS system (as seen on the “Ellen” Show) — a great playground game for young and old alike. Festivalgoers can enjoy hayrides, play games, tour the Trick or Treat Trail, climb the rock wall, and listen to great music. Several contests during the festival include costume contests for children and adults, a pumpkin carving contest, and a Guitar Hero contest.

Duties: A number of volunteers are needed to facilitate the weekend activities. For example, oversee the campfire and marshmallow roasting, serve apple cider while listening to ghost stories, run a children’s activity, organize the costume parade, become a fairy tale character and distribute treats, judge the pumpkin carving contest or supervise a little Guitar Hero.

Program Time:
Saturday: 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (10 character vol.) / 2:30 – 6 p.m. (12 activity vol.)
Training: Volunteers will be trained at the beginning of their shift.
Location: Lower Cascades Park, 2851 N. Old State Rd. 37
Age of Volunteers: 16 yrs. and up

Hurricane Ike Relief Alternative Break

It is clear that recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike will be long and difficult for many affected families. CC International is organizing and deploying volunteers to provide support to the recovery effort. They will be taking up to 100 volunteers per week beginning in November and ending in May of 2009. These can be trips taken for Thanksgiving, Winter, or Spring breaks.
