After School Adventure

Once a week, January 7-May 23 / Friday already filled

Help local youth interested in learning new things, experiencing different activities and having an all-around great time in our after-school program. This program also includes built-in tutoring time, arts and crafts and snacks daily.

Duties: Whether you enjoy working with youth or have professional aspirations to, this service opportunity gives you hands-on experience. Assist staff in implementing a variety of children’s activities.

Program Time: 3-6 p.m.

Training: Volunteers are required to attend an orientation prior to the program.

Location: City of Bloomington Banneker Community Center, 930 W. Seventh St.

Age of Volunteers: 16 yrs. and up

Number of Volunteers: 3 per day, Monday-Friday

Other: We ask that you commit to at least one day a week for the duration of the program season.

Super Fun Fridays

Fridays, January 18, January 25, February, 15, February 29, March 7, March 28, April 11, April 25, May 9

Join us two for a super fun time! Children will enjoy crafts, refreshments and lots of activities and play.
Duties: Do you enjoy working with children and making crafts? Volunteers assist with age-appropriate activities that are planned for each day.

Program Time: 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Training: Volunteers will be trained at the beginning of their shift.

Location: City of Bloomington Allison-Jukebox Community Center, 351 S. Washington St.

Age of Volunteers: 18 yrs. and up

Number of Volunteers: 2

Kids Animal Service Club Helpers

If you’re an animal lover and would enjoy an educational service opportunity, join up with Bloomington Parks and Recreation's Animal Service Club. Volunteers will assist the children enrolled in this program with their educational and civic experiences as they spend time learning about animal care professions, tending to animals and doing animal related crafts and projects.
The club meets on Tuesdays from 3:45-5:30 p.m.
January 22nd-February 26th and
March 25th-April 29th
at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter.

Camp KESEM

Camp Kesem is a free summer camp for children 6 to 13 who have or have had a parent with cancer. It is usually held in Waycross, IN during the first week of August.

It is entirely organized and run by IU volunteers who serve on committees during the year.

Habitat ReStore Volunteers

Support Habitat for Humanity’s mission by volunteering in its ReStore, which sells donated building materials and household items at discounted prices with the funds going to build decent, affordable housing for people in need. Volunteer with donation pick up, art and advertising production, as a cashier or customer service representative or with special projects. Volunteers receive Restore Bucks and enjoy monthly volunteer appreciation events! Minimum age is 16. Bargain Boutique Helpers

Do you love clothes? Then come volunteer for a four hour weekly or bi-weekly shift in the My Sister’s Closet store. My Sister’s Closet has been providing workforce attire to women seeking self-sufficiency since 1998. Tasks include processing donations, tagging and displaying clothing, and helping women select work attire. No retail experience needed; training provided. Minimum age is 16. Music Outreach

Early Music in Motion seeks volunteers to assist with fundraising and project administration. Experience is helpful but not necessary. This Bloomington based non profit organization exposes under-served children and communities in Indiana to 16th through 18th century music in order to cultivate emotional intelligence and heighten their sense of beauty, order and healthy social interactions.
