Children's Expo - Feb. 12, 13
Volunteer for the Children's Expo and Health Fair, themed "Healthy Hearts and Valentines". Volunteers assist in a variety of ways, making the event run smoothly. The Expo features free health screenings for sweethearts ages 5 years and under, which ensure that children are ready to begin school with no barriers to learning. Screenings in speech, dental, hearing, vision, development, lead and scoliosis are offered by qualified professionals. Visitors explore interactive booths, listen to live entertainment, and peruse exhibitor booths. Minimum age is 18.

URGENT NEED - More Volleyball Coaches Needed!
Help! The Girls Inc. volleyball season is about to begin and they have four unexpected vacancies. If you have considered coaching or are intrigued by the opportunity . . . this is your chance to coach! Coaches should have interest and some experience with volleyball, and a passion for empowering girls and creating fun, meaningful experiences! Coaches commit to volunteer two evenings/week, Monday through Thursday. Minimum age is 18.

Board Members - Theatre of The People (TOP)
Bloomington's newest non-profit community theatre is seeking volunteers to join their Board of Directors. Interested community members will contribute to TOP's short and long-term development as well as ensuring successful social service programming in the area of inclusive arts and education. Skills in business/non-profit management, arts administration, finance, law, marketing, public relations, fundraising/grant writing, counseling, or special event promotion are preferred, although no experience is necessary. Board members commit to a two to three year term. Interested persons are asked to complete an application, then to meet with the Co-Artistic Directors and Board President.

Organize Spring Luncheon
The "Spring Into Action!" luncheon and silent auction is Monroe County United Ministries largest special event fundraiser. They need enthusiastic volunteers to serve on the organizing committee. The luncheon will be held on Sunday, April 25th, with proceeds supporting their affordable childcare and basic needs assistance services. Committee members meet monthly and work independently, planning event logistics, soliciting silent auction items, selling tickets and promoting the event. Minimum age is 18.

Public Library Volunteer Training!


Does the sight of shelves full of books excite you?
If so, this may be the perfect volunteering opportunity for you!

Monroe County Public Library is holding two separate training sessions for individuals looking to become circulation volunteers!

The training sessions are April 14th from 7-8 pm and May 12th from 10-11 am! Volunteers must attend a training session before they can volunteer at the library.

PALS Training Coming Up!

Do you love working with animals? Want to help make a difference? Learn how you can help by attending People and Animal Learning Services (PALS) training on Saturday, April 25th, from 1-4 pm.

PALS volunteers will assist children and adults with disabilities in learning how to ride horses. Horse riding can be therapeutic and have many positive effects. Volunteer responsibilities include leading horses & side-walking riders during lessons. Volunteers also help groom, saddle, train, care for horses and help with barn chores.


Don't be discouraged if you have never worked with horses before... No horse experience necessary!

All volunteers must attend a training session before they can begin volunteering with pals.

Therapeutic Horse Riding Volunteer Training - March 7



People & Animal Learning Services (PALS) is offering a new volunteer training on March 7 from 1-4 p.m. for anyone interested in becoming involved in PALS or therapeutic riding.





Volunteers help children/adults with disabilities learn how to ride horses. Responsibilities include leading horses & side-walking riders during lessons. Volunteers may also groom, saddle, train, care for horses and help with barn chores.





No horse experience necessary!





A commitment of 3-4 hours per week is requested. Volunteers must attend a volunteer training and be over the age of 14.

Disaster Response Volunteer

The local Americorps office has set up a temporary center to field calls from southern Indiana flood victims. The information will be used by the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA to assess the extent of the damage, to allocate resources and to determine disaster levels. Three volunteers per 1½ hour shift are needed Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through April 25th. No minimum age. Council for Community Accessibility Volunteer

Help the City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility make Bloomington accessible for people with disabilities and their families. Volunteers attend monthly meetings (held on third Mondays at 4 p.m. at City Hall) then volunteer on one of several CCA projects, such as surveying local businesses for accessibility and planning events. CASA Training

Looking for an opportunity to give back to your community? To make a difference? To use your skills? The abused and neglected children of Monroe County need your help. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate you will help to ensure that the best interests of the child remain the focus of the justice and welfare system. Monroe County CASA volunteers must be age 21 or older, able to travel outside of Monroe County and able to commit to one to two years of service.

Training will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to noon, May 7th through June 13th. Application deadline is April 18.

Middle Way House Training Date!!

What: Middle Way House Domestic Violence Training

When: Saturday, April 19th, 2008: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For: Domestic violence training required for anyone interested in volunteering with Middle Way House programs.

Middle Way House is seeking new volunteers to help us maintain the level of service that we provide to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Both women and men are strongly encouraged to attend the training. We have volunteer opportunities in over 20 different program areas including: childcare, crisis line, legal advocacy, house management, community reception, and youth mentoring.

No pre-registration is required for this training.

Maple Shades Meal Delivery Driver

Be of service to an elderly person in need, as a meal delivery driver for the Area 10 Agency on Aging. Deliver hot, nutritious meals to the homebound elderly

in Ellettsville on Thursdays and Fridays (from about 9:30-11 a.m.)

and personally experience how you can make a difference in the life of a neighbor. You must use your own vehicle, but no previous experience is necessary as they will provide training. Bloomington Girls Fastpitch Softball

March 29-July 1

Bloomington's premier girls' softball league! Designed for the beginning through advanced player, this league focuses on responsible competition, including skill building and a complete understanding of the game. This league offers several levels of play ranging from tee ball to fastpitch for players ages 5 through 17.
Duties: Interested in becoming a coach some day? Volunteers will help the sports staff with skills development, various drills and practice. Here is your chance to put your mark on tomorrow’s athlete.
Training: Coaches must attend a training session-date and time TBD.
Program Time: Looking for coaches in all age groups. Must be willing to become NYSCA certified and work from a set practice schedule. Must commit to three hours weekly for duration of season.
Location: Winslow Sports Complex, 2800 S. Highland Ave.
Age of Volunteers: 16 yrs. and up
Number of volunteers: 30-35

Tri-North Middle School Outdoor Club

Ready to get out? Put on your hiking shoes and let’s go! Tri-North Middle School students get their very own Outdoor Club for afternoons of hiking, canoeing, learning about conservation and hanging out with other teens who enjoy the outdoors.
Duties: Volunteers who love the outdoors are needed to assist participants in the activities involved with this program. If you love nature and want to know more about it, join us!

Teens get a chance to contribute their youthful energy to deserving Bloomington organizations while completing service hours for their church or school. Each week they will travel to local non-profit agencies to provide them with an invaluable service.
Duties: Lead by example ... volunteer! Mentor teens as they explore the benefits and rewards of volunteering.
Program Time: 2:45-5:15 p.m.
Training: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation prior to program.

Time 2 Learn

Wednesdays, March 19-April 23

It's time to learn! Children will be introduced to the concepts of time, days of the week, months, and even the weather through interactive play, crafts and songs. This class enhances number recognition and helps prepare children for school.
Duties: “1, 2, 3 o’clock ... 4 o’clock, rock! 5, 6, 7 o’clock ... 8 o’clock rock! We’re going to rock around the clock tonight!” Help teach children valuable information in a fun environment.
Program Time: 4-5:30 p.m.
Training: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation prior to program.
